Join scholars, historians, and theologians in Oxford, England for an illuminating session dedicated to the life, work, and legacy of Cardinal John Henry Newman and his pivotal role in the Oxford Movement.
Set against the historic backdrop of the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin and other sites central to Newman’s ministry, the event explores Newman’s influence as a preacher, thinker, and leader in the 19th-century revival that sought to renew the Church of England’s catholic heritage.
Sessions will address key aspects of John Henry Newman’s theological development, spiritual journey, and intellectual legacy. Through keynote lectures, panel discussions, and site-specific reflections, participants will gain deeper insight into Newman’s influence on Anglican and Catholic thought, his distinctive approach to doctrine and conscience, and the lasting significance of his work for theology, education, and the life of the Church.
Programme Overview
Day 1
Your literary adventure begins the moment you arrive in Oxford. After checking into your historic college residence, take time to settle in and soak up the academic charm of your surroundings. In the evening, step into the world of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis with our signature "Evening with the Inklings" event. Enjoy lively discussion, a themed meal, and stories set in the very halls where these legendary writers once gathered. It's the perfect way to begin your journey into Oxford's rich literary heritage.

Day 2
Start your day with a full English breakfast in a medieval dining hall followed by a guided walking tour of Oxford.
Midday brings "Lewis Lunch," honoring the legacy of C.S. Lewis, before stepping into the spiritual and architectural beauty of the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin. In the afternoon, trace the footsteps of Tolkien, Lewis, and their literary circle on the "Oxford and the Inklings Walking Tour."
The evening is unstructured, allowing you time to discover Oxford independently.

Day 3
Begin your day with a whimsical full English breakfast. Wander the halls of the Ashmolean Museum, home to priceless artifacts and artistic treasures that echo centuries of cultural influence.
After a fantastical "Lunch in Wonderland," you’ll explore Oxford Colleges and many filming sites for Harry Potter and a real-world inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice
Later, indulge in "The Mad Hatter’s Tea," a themed afternoon tea full of playful charm and storytelling delights. The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure, with a free dinner and time to explore Oxford’s vibrant culinary scene or relax at your college.

Day 4
Today we dive into Oxford’s literary heart with a visit to the Bodleian Library—one of the oldest and most treasured book collections in the world.
After a midday lunch continue your literary journey with a tour of Oxford's famous bookstore where storytelling has evolved "From Quill to Kindle," a curated bookstore and literary history experience.
As night falls, immerse yourself in the world of Charles Dickens with an atmospheric "Dickens Dinner"—a feast full of Victorian charm.

Day 5
Your final morning ends with a full English breakfast. A relaxed farewell breakfast where participants can share reflections and favorite moments from the week. It's a gentle close to your literary journey, filled with warm conversation and English charm.
Following breakfast, participants will depart Oxford for travel to London or the airport. Whether you're heading home or continuing your adventures, you’ll leave with unforgettable memories and stories rooted in the rich literary legacy of Oxford.
